I have loved the English Bulldog since I can remember. I have adored their image in advertising and animation since I was a kid. However, my lifestyle and the homes that I have lived in have not always been favorable for the needs of a Bulldog. Anyone who has any exposure to this breed will tell you that they are unlike any other dog you may have ever known. It is absolutely essential that your home and lifestyle accommodate a Bulldogs needs or neither of you will be happy.
On April 21, 2006 my first bully arrived at the Vancouver Airport. I was so excited to meet her. She had already been named by our 7 year old daughter through a grueling "name in a hat" process. Delilah was a most welcome addition to our family. Delilah arrived safe and happy and was ready to play the moment we opened the crate door. We are so thankful to Kandie at Iroc Bulldogs for letting us have Delilah in our lives.
Now, the more I got to know Delilah, the more I knew that there was truly something very special about the English Bulldog breed. I liken them to a two year old child. They are curious, bold and very loving. Delilah loves to curl up on a lap in the evening when she is ready to call it a day. And even as she grew to 45 pounds, that didn't change!
Well, I have heard them say..."Bulldogs are like potato chips, you can't have just one". Nothing could be more true! Once you have these guys in your life, you want to be surrounded by them. And believe me, the Bulldog culture is alive and well! Any Bulldogger will say the same! So, Bulldog number two arrived in our home on April 26, 2008. "Miss Kitty" is also from Iroc Bulldogs and is Delilah's niece. She had no trouble fitting into our household and likes to run a tight ship - ensuring that there isn't a morsel left on the bottom of the dishwasher after dinner.
I am very anxious to contribute to the health, longevity and strengthening of this wonderful breed. And so Onchu Bulldogs is born. I have a great mentor in Kandie from Iroc Bulldogs as well as other Bulldoggers I have had the pleasure to cross paths with. I am a member in good standing with the Canadian Kennel Club and abide by their Breeder Code of Ethics.
If you are interested in being blessed by the addition of one of these great friends in your life my first suggestion to you is READ! There is a lot of information about them out there and if you cannot dedicate the time, energy and money to raising a happy and healthy Bulldog, you may want to reconsider. I invite you to browse the pages of my website and I will insert links for your convenience in an effort to help you get to know the English Bulldog. I invite comments and questions. We can all learn from each other.
Happy Bulldogging!!
